Hoffman plays MUM

R.Hoffman made a very rare acoustic appearance Tuesday night at MUM Downtown in Middletown. The crooner wooed the crowd with material from a variety of Hoffman projects and some pretty hilarious crowd interaction as well. R.H. seemed right at home performing stellar cuts like "The Jug", "Ain't No Grave" and even a little Tom Waits [Chocolate Jesus] and Patti Griffin [Fly]. The normally reclusive songmeister performed to a full house to help promote the universities latest endeavor in Middletown. MUM Downtown is a free coffeeshop that will host entertainment, poetry slams, local artists, authors and more. The crowd laughed and even interacted with the artist as he spoke about influences and at one point joked that "it took two glasses of wine, two shots of Tequila and a crack rock the size of a cats head to get me here tonight." While the comedic commentary continued throughout the 60-minute set it was also accompanied by poignant musical moments including a phenomenal cover of Leon Russell's "Song For You" as he bid the crowd goodnight. Hoffman stuck around after the set with wife Elaine in tow and chatted with audience members and staff. Great job Rob and a special thanks to all of those whom attended the show.
